W. Sandy Spurgin

With more than 25 years of industry experience, W. Sandy Spurgin holds the position of President for Northwood Development Group. In this role, he oversees the operations for Northwood Development Group and leads the company’s real estate development initiatives across the firm’s portfolio.

Prior to leading Northwood Development Group, Mr. Spurgin served as Head of Development and Retail Strategies at Northwood Retail for 11 years, where he created innovative and lasting environments that realized the full potential of each asset. In previous roles, Mr. Spurgin held the position of Vice President of Development for Cooper & Stebbins, L.P., where he spent ten years developing Southlake Town Square, a 3.5 million-square-foot master-planned downtown and regional central business district. During his tenure, he directed over 800,000 square feet of development, from conceptual design and pro forma feasibility to construction completion and lease-up. He was also involved in all aspects of asset management, leasing, and financing.

Mr. Spurgin received a BBA in Real Estate Finance and a BBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University.

Vice President of Development

Ryan Muscott

Ryan Muscott joined Northwood Retail in 2017 and transitioned to Northwood Development Group in 2023, where he serves as Vice President of Development for the company’s portfolio. In this role, he oversees the execution of the company’s development and capital improvement initiatives.

Prior to joining Northwood Development Group, Mr. Muscott served as Assistant Project Manager for The Beck Group with a focus on ground up Class A Office and Higher Education Facilities. Some notable projects include JP Morgan Chase campus at Legacy West, McKinney & Olive, and Southern Methodist University Residential Commons.

Mr. Muscott received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Stanford University.
